Inside Downtown Hilton Garden Inn

Hilton Garden Inn - Downtown, Sioux Falls SD

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – It’s one of the biggest construction projects in downtown in recent years.  The 25 million dollar Hilton Garden Inn along the River Greenway opens early next week.

But our cameras were allowed inside today to give you a preview. The new Hilton Garden Inn is impressive on the outside.  Step into the lobby and it’s not quite ready for guests, but it’s getting close.

“To see it now three years later and to see it go vertical; the best part is when you start to envision things and how you think it’s going to look like; it’s turning out exactly the way–or surpassing the way I hoped it would,” Hotel Developer Paul Hegg said.

Paul Hegg is one of the hotel’s developers. It’s the first partnership between Lloyd and Hegg companies and it’s a marriage that’s produced one of the most upscale properties in town.

“We’re going to be at the higher end because we’re going to be the luxury property in the marketplace, but, it’s going to be an affordable location for people,” Hegg said.

Basic rooms start at $139 a night.  The suites start at $200 and go to $300 a night for the presidential suite. Seven of those suites have balconies that overlook the river and the city’s skyline.

“We’ve got 21 different room types and unique suites and regular rooms that have a view and vista you just can’t duplicate in this marketplace,” Hegg said.

Just off the lobby, Pinnacle Hospitality is opening up its fourth restaurant called “Elements on 8th.” “We kind of took a greatest hits concept from our properties and said, ‘Listen, we’re going to take a little bit of this from Callaway’s, a little bit from Tre and Foleys and meld it together. And naturally we have to be family friendly,” Randy Derheim of Pinnacle Hospitality said.

While the Hilton brand may help attract visitors, it’s the entire experience these developers say will keep people coming back.

“What we were able to do with the Hilton Garden Inn brand is take that brand and elevate it even to another level,” Hegg said.

The hotel also includes six thousand square feet of meeting space to accommodate up to 400 people. The Hilton Garden Inn and Elements on 8th restaurant open Tuesday, November 12.
